Let’s get started!

#1: Meet the Basic Requirements for the Mississippi Adjuster License

Before you start taking steps to get your adjuster license, make sure you meet Mississippi’s basic requirements.

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Applicant must provide residence, business and mailing addresses. Residence address must not contain a P.O. Box.

That’s it! If you’re 18 years old, you can move on to the next steps.

#2: Take the Required Mississippi Pre-Licensing Course

Mississippi is one of a handful of states that require you to take a state-approved pre-licensing course before they’ll allow you to register and take the adjuster exam.

AdjusterPro’s Mississippi Adjuster Pre-Licensing Course satisfies the state’s 20-hour pre-licensing requirement and will thoroughly prepare you to pass the challenging state adjuster exam.

Our course has been rigorously prepared and is regularly updated. Our online classroom allows you to print reference materials, take practice tests, and even create your own quizzes to help with subjects you are struggling with.

At the end of the course, you’ll be given a 60-question, multiple-choice final exam. You must correctly answer at least 70% of the questions to pass the pre-licensing course. However, we recommend consistently achieving 90% or higher on all the quizzes and practice exams before taking the state adjuster exam.

#3: Register for and Pass the Mississippi Adjuster License State Exam

Register for and take the Mississippi state exam through PearsonVue. The exam name is ‘MS Property & Casualty incl Workers Comp Adjuster’.

Our provider information is as follows: Provider Name: COR Enterprises, LLC dba AdjusterPro, Pre-Licensing Provider Number: 15019046; Pre-Licensing Course Number: 17960.

When registering for your state exam, have a copy of your Certificate of Completion from your pre-licensing course handy. If you took your course with AdjusterPro, your Certificate of Completion is available in the Certificates folder in your online classroom. You will also want to bring your Certificate to the testing center with you when you go to take your exam.

You must score at least 70% on your state exam to pass. Candidates who score below 70% will need to retake the exam and pay the fees again. You will be given two hours to finish your exam.

#5: Complete Mississippi Continuing Education and License Renewal Requirements

Once you have your license, you’ll need to complete some additional steps every few years to keep it active. Resident Mississippi adjusters are required to complete 24 hours of continuing education (CE) every two years. Three of these continuing education hours must be Ethics.

You cannot receive credit for any course more than once in any CE reporting period. Excess CE credits cannot be applied to the next compliance cycle.

Initial licenses expire on the last day of the licensee’s birth month the following year, but no less than 13 months from the date of issue. After that, the license will expire every two years on the last day of the adjuster’s birth month. Mississippi does have pro-rated CE hours for new licensees.

  • For initial licenses in effect for 13-18 months: 12 hours of continuing education is required each year prior to the expiration date
  • For initial licenses in effect for 19-24 months: 24 hours of continuing education is required, including the three hours of ethics

Renew your Mississippi license through Sircon.

Reciprocity means an adjuster holding a home state license can apply for an adjuster license in another state without having to take that state’s exam. If you want to learn more about reciprocity and why it’s vital to your success, visit our Reciprocity: The Truth About Adjuster Licensing Agreements Between States blog article.

Fees for reciprocal licenses vary by state, but on average you can expect to pay between $40 and $60 per application, although a few states charge up to $120. To see what states will offer reciprocal licensing privileges to Mississippi adjusters, visit our Mississippi Adjuster Reciprocity Map. Mississippi grants reciprocal licenses to adjusters who are licensed in their home state or adjusters who hold a Designated Home State (DHS) license, as long as the home or DHS state requires an examination.
